How to upgrade Polycom VVX Series to Firmware 5.8.0 date 1/7/2020

This will update Polycom VVX models to version 5.8.0

FIRST SS does host firmware for the Polycom phones

You can set your firmware manually by going into NDP and select the 'Line' option on a device.

In the Line1 column, this is where you will find the Firmware drop down.

The default firmware is 5.4.4 for this model phone, this is something you can select one by one, or you can use a domain override to apply to all phones on this domain. This is a split firmware and will work with any Polycom model on that domain.

All split firmware is stored in the 5.8.0 folder and the phones will automatically pull the proper firmware. This is done to prevent the long download time for combined. 

You can enter in domain level or Advanced Tab of Device

APP_FILE_PATH="../frm/uc_5.8.0_split/sip.ld"

You may need to also add the following line below:

device.prov.upgradeServer.set="1"

Advanced Tab Upgrade String by Combined Firmware same file for all the listed Models (approx size 391MB)

We can put this into the customer's NDP domain, since it will upgrade all models.

The combined version contains all files for all phone models. The split software package is smaller, downloads more quickly, and contains sip.ld files for each phone model,enabling you to choose provisioning software for your phone model and maintain software versions for each model in the same root directory.

For general use, Polycom recommends using the split resource file that corresponds to the phone models for your deployment. To match the correct UC software resource file to your phone model, see the table.
