Changing your Westell 6100 modem to Bridge Mode In order to use third-party routers with your Westell 6100 modem, you must first change your Westell modem to bridge mode.

Note: The setup screens may vary slightly from the ones included below, depending on when you purchased your Westell 6100 modem and the firmware running on it.

To change your Westell 6100 modem to bridge mode:

                  1. Enter http://192.168.1.1 in your browser’s address bar.

                   1. When prompted, enter your Westell 6100 modem user name and password. [Show Me]

  • Note: The default User Name is admin and password is password.

 

                   1. From the main menu, click My Network. [Show Me]



                   1. Click Network Connections in the left navigation panel. [Show Me]



                   1. Click Broadband Connection (DSL).

                    6.In the VCs section, click the Edit icon.

                        6. Select Bridge in the Protocol field.

  1. Select routed bridge in the Bridge Mode field. [Show Me] 

  2. Click OK if a warning displays reminding you that your modem must be reset. [Show Me]

 

Changing the LAN settings


                    10. The modem will now reset itself. Once it resets, the modem will take you back to the main menu. ClickMain if the Main                                 page doesn't display automatically.




                    10. Click My Network. [Show Me]




                    10. Click Network Connections in the left navigation panel. [Show Me]




                    10. Click LAN.

                    10. Remove the check from the Private LAN DHCP Server Enable box and click Apply.

                    10. Your Westell 6100 modem is now in Bridge Mode. Close the Westell 6100 configuration window.



  1. The last step before you're ready to connect your third-party router is to terminate any active TCP/IP connections on your network.
